Christmas Market Time! Santa Comes for Dogs Too!

Update May 2023 – we are sadden to share that Big Dave is no longer with us and the business has ended.

Who doesn’t love going to the Christmas markets and you can bring your fur baby! We love supporting local artisans and there is no better way to do that then going to the markets. For the next few weeks, markets will be all over the place. We have our favourite vendors but we always love to check out new ones! Saturday we visited the Brooklin Merry Market at the Lakeridge Links & Whispering Ridge Golf Course and Big Dave’s Christmas Market at Big Dave’s in Myrtle Station. Both events were dog friendly, in fact, they were welcomed with open arms and got a lot of hellos and pets.

We put on their Christmas threads and headed to the Brooklin Merry Market first. We got there as it was opening and it wasn’t too busy. There were a ton of vendors, and lots of dog swag; for dogs or about dogs. Each had added their own touch to different items making them all unique. We made some new friends there!

We met Tasha who has ‘Danas by Tasha. She has the cutest bandana’s for dogs and Tasha is super sweet. She had Christmas ones and every day ones! Make sure your dogs is decked out in new threads for the season!

We also saw a vendor we visit on a regular basis, the Meat-A-Tarian. They make the best pepperoni sticks for the humans but he has a wonderful spread for the furry friends too. All four of us always walk away with our mouths full and a smile on our face. This vendor is a regular at the Brooklin Market and Maze will sometimes slip out of her collar to go and say hi and ask for a treat. This is a must visit when you see him at the next market!

To make the experience even better there was live music by Mariah Evangeline who sounds like an angel.

Here are some more pictures of the market.

There was also food by the Joint and a coffee truck to keep you warm. We left mid morning and could not believe how many cars were there. Very popular event!

Next we headed to Big Dave’s Christmas Market. This one wasn’t as big but had a nice warm cozy feel to it with a bonfire in the centre and Santa waiting to get his picture with you!

Of course we had to have some lunch at Bid Dave’s which is always a favourite. They have amazing sandwiches and delicious pizza.

Sunday we headed to the Uxbridge Holiday Market. This market is every Sunday in November and is quite large as it has an outdoor section and an indoor section. They also have two warm bonfires and a guitarist. The outside market was a little smaller and the inside was quite big (and warm!). The outside was very dog friendly but no furry friends inside.

We met some more new friends in Uxbridge. The first one was an outdoor vendor, Diggin Up Bones. She had everything from treats, to dog bones, to dog care products. You will find this wonderful vendor at Niemi Family Farms market this Christmas season if you want to catch up with her.

We met some more new friends inside. We met Gatsby & Clarke. They had bandanas, collars, toys, shirts and sweatshirt, and some fun paw jewellery. My favourite was the bandana that said ‘Dear Santa, I can explain”.

We also met Dog Gone Gear. The bow ties were very cute and so many fun things for your dogs to dress them up for the season. She also had some “Dog Mom” sweatshirts I loved but already have one too many!

Another great market that there is still time to visit! Here are some more pictures for you!
