Borer’s Falls Off Leash Dog Park & Gorgeous Lookouts on Dog Friendly Trails – Dundas

If you’re looking for the perfect place to take your dog in Dundas, Borer’s Falls Off Leash Dog Park is highly recommended! The park has both a fully fenced in smaller dog area and a huge all dog off leash park area. There is plenty of space for your pup to run around and play. In addition, they are right beside the 4.3 km Borer Falls hiking trail.

The off leash park is located just off highway 6, on York Road in Dundas. Borer’s Falls Leash Free Area was easy to find and has lots of free parking in their gravel parking lot. After arriving, we walked over to their double gate entrance, which has a separate in and out gates. The cute sign clarifying what dogs are welcome in the smaller area is adorable.

Both entrance gates are side by side. The small dog area is about 20 m x 30 m and the all dog area is about 95 m x 40 m. The off leash area has lots of space to run around and play. In addition, the park was well maintained, there are several picnic tables and water bowls for the pups. Most importantly, there are several mature trees that provide plenty of shade on hot days. Nala loves playing chase, it was nice to have several friends for her to run with. Surprisingly, we even ran into another Red Fox Lab!

We only stayed about 30 minutes in the dog park before heading off to the adjacent hiking trail.

Borer's Falls Off Leash Dog Park - Bruce trail sign

The trail head, which is part of the Bruce Trail, is located in the same parking lot. Look for the blue and white sign close to the trees. In AllTrails, look for the Lower Borer’s Falls from Hopkin’s Corner hiking trail.

The 4.3 m loop trail brings you through some breathtaking views of the Niagara escarpment through the forest. There were several significant hills that were a bit slippery due to the fallen leaves, but most steep sections had stairs built into the trail for assistance.

There are two sections between the parking lot and the waterfall, a loop and a side trail. The Loop trail is has blue markers and trail signs at trail junctions. The side trail leading to the falls has white trail markers. Both trails were well marked, making it very easy to know your location. The entire trail is dog friendly, but they must stay on a leash on all the Bruce Trail. This is good practice for Nala as most of our hiking is leash free.

Borer’s falls is a curtain waterfall over the Niagara escarpment. Visiting in late fall, although still beautiful, the falls had less water than expected. I’m sure they are significantly more impressive in the spring. In addition, we checked out a few small lookouts of the falls. We also walked to the top near the road where Nala got a quick drink before heading back to the parking lot.

Overall, an amazing day with perfect weather. I highly recommend both Borer’s Falls Off Leash Dog Park and hiking trail.
