The Crown Lands is a beautiful spot to hike with your pup! Some will say a forest is a forest but this hike has it all, picnic area, open field, trail, highly dense spruce and evergreen trees, your tranquil maple, birch and popular tree areas, bridges and a lovely river.
There are two entrances to the area. There is one parking lot off of Taunton Road and then another entrance off of Ochonski Road. We usually park at Ochonski Road. There are several trails and each is marked by a colour. They are very well marked.
We usually take the same route every time we go. We take the blue trail and then follow the orange back to the car. We like this route as the first part of the trail has very little water for the dogs but the orange route follows the river. Our walk is about 5 km. Here are some pictures from the blue route.
The river is a great place to watch the fish in the spring as they travel up river. Be careful though as dogs love to roll in rotting fish. We had the privilege of dealing with this while visiting the park this weekend. Maze rolled on one and we had to scrub her down with skunk mixture to finally get rid of the smell. Here are some pictures from the orange trail.
The old bridge is a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the scenery and the quiet.
We thought with the frost that we were past the tick problem we have been facing with every park (no ticks at Harmony Conservation!) but we were again left with having to thoroughly search the pups after finding two red ticks on Mazes head.
Lovely place to visit and a must do on your hiking list.
