More festivities, more markets and more lights! The City of Pickering was advertising that their Winter Nights, City Lights was a pet friendly event. We were very excited and ordered our free tickets for Friday night. It stated at 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. There weren’t any specific details about the event but I was very excited to walk through a lighted park with my pooches.
A couple of days before the event they posted the details and it stated that there were going to be fireworks at 6:30 p.m. That made things a little more difficult for us to attend as Maze despises fireworks. A couple of years ago we were out for our nightly walk in the neighbourhood when some kids let off fireworks in the baseball diamond about 100 feet from us. Maze was not happy and from then on she shivers horribly when she hears them. So, being in Pickering at 6:30 p.m. was not an option. So we decided to just attend between 5:30 pm and 6:30 p.m.
It was a very sparse event. There were a couple of food trucks in the parking lot, a cookie one, so the kids were excited for that and we stopped for a cookie. We headed over to the live music and the market. The music was fantastic, it was a young girl singing, her first song was “Let it Be”. We visited the market which was a nice and warm tent full of vendors.

There was another area with some kid activities. It was hard to get pictures as the lights on all the trees also didn’t go on until 6:30 p.m. with the fireworks so it was all very dark for the hour before. We were there about 20 minutes and left.

We were not done being out on a Friday night, so we headed to Brooklin (Whitby), Christmas in the Village. This place was hopping. There was Santa on a tractor, live music, buskers, food, vendors and and horse drawn wagon rides. All outside and all dog friendly (well, we didn’t try the wagon rides!). Here are some pictures.

All in all we all had fun and enjoyed the holiday festivities! I will leave you with a video of one of the buskers.
