For our second dog friendly day we planned (and needed to) to visit:
Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve
Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve is a privately owned reserve that is a 10,000 acres of forest with ample wildlife. The reserve boasts private lakes, cottages, campsites, dog friendly trails, beaches and a general store. We were day pass guests as we wanted to explore the many trails.

We hiked the trails for hours. The forest and scenery is exquisite. The mapping system is not quite as great. We got lost several times throughout our hike. We did met very nice people along the way to point us in the right direction. We believe we hiked around Clear Lake and Turtle Lake.

Once we finished hiking we went to the beach by the entrance to let the dogs play in the water. The view was magnificent. The dogs had a blast.

What we didn’t expect is the smell of the dogs when they got. They were very stinky. We dried them off as best as possible. Our last stop at the reserve was their general store. We wanted to see what they had to offer if you were a camper. We found lots of necessities as well as some souvenirs. We love badges so we got two to add to our collection on our camp bags!

Once we got back to the car, we realized how bad the dogs smelled from the water. We headed to the self serve dog wash at the Pet Valu in Huntsville.
Pet Valu – Huntsville
The self serve dog washing stations are the best invention. Each dog was $10 and they supplied the soap, towels and even treats. There was no time limit on our wash time. Of course, after we washed the dogs we had to get them some treats and a toy too!

After we were all cleaned and smelling only like wet dog, we headed to get ice cream.
Kawartha Diary – Huntsville
You just can’t visit Huntsville without getting an ice cream at Kawartha Diary.

Kawartha Diary is so dog friendly. The service window is outside and the list of choices is above the service window. This makes having a dog with you a non-issue. You can also go inside if you wish to browse their preserves and other Kawartha products.
The best part? Dog cups are free! Maze and Nyx are always spoiled with their own vanilla ice cream cup.

The day was still young. We had lovely hikes a bath and ice cream, we were off to the nursery to see the fall festivities.
Sandhill Nursery
The nursery is my favorite place to go. So, this stop was for me but it welcomes dogs with arms wide open. At this time of year, this dog friendly nursery had the Fall Festival in full swing. The nursery itself was stocked with lots of fall plants including mums, pumpkins and fall decor. In the back field area, they had mazes, photo opportunities, over sized local art, entertainers, beer and of course food. You literally spend hours here with no entrance cost. This is not our first year attending this, so add this to your calendar for next year!
We hung out here for quite a while enjoying the entertainment. We had a beer and some food before we went back to the hotel for dinner, fire and a puzzle.
Don’t forget to check out the rest of our trip!
