Easter is such a fun time of the year. I will acknowledge the religious importance of it but when you are a kid, it is really all about the chocolate! BUT NO CHOCOLATE for the dogs.
So….how do we include them?!?
We have 3 ideas for you! We had a lot of fun and some good laughs!
1. Ball Drop!
We found this fun video where they created a tennis ball pinata for the pups! AND we had to try it of course. Here is what you will need:
- a box
- tennis balls
- tape
- a place to hang the box (we used the tree in the backyard)
- dogs!
We filled the box with all of the balls and kept one ball out to use as the “bait”. We ensured that the “bait ball” was secured to the line but when they pulled it the whole box would open and the balls would fall out on the dogs.
We then attached the box to the tree (we kept the dogs inside). We kept it high enough that the “bait ball” couldn’t be reached by the dogs without jumping for it!
It was so much fun watching them try to get the ball! Maze sat back and studied the situation and then went to Karen and used her to help her stay up to try and get the ball! Nyx and Nala did a great job as well! They finally got the box opened and they were all very excited to get showered in brand new tennis balls!
2. Who’s There??
The second game we played with the dogs is seeing if they recognized themselves. Karen printed 11x 17 colour pictures of each of the dogs for us to use!
We taped these pictures to the side of a wall so that it looked like they were peaking out from it! We thought that these pictures of the dogs would catch their attention.
We let the dogs in one at a time to gauge their reaction……and…..no reaction at all! This was an epic fail but fun to do nonetheless.

3. Photocopy Fun!
We thought this idea of photocopying the dogs paws with your hands was a great idea! Well….not as easy to do! It took three of us to try this fun!
After putting the copier on the floor, one of us kneeled in front of it with a dog in front of them. That person put their hands on the photocopier and a second person held the dogs paws on the glass. The third person had to hit the copy button.
The first time I did this Maze accidentally hit “3” and “”2” and we were on our way to getting 32 copies of our first attempt! We tried each dog – Nala and Maze were the easiest to work with and Nyx was her usual crazy self.
This is Maze and Nala’s paws. We quickly learned that Nyx being all black doesn’t work as her fur and the pads of her feet are black. These definitely didn’t turn out as nice as we saw on the internet but they are fun keepsakes!
We hope that you have a blast with your pup on Easter weekend and you and your family have a bunny filled time!
